Groundwater Well Assistance Program (GWAP)

The Groundwater Well Assistance Program (GWAP) was created in 2018 to support well owners facing water-level declines below their pumps due to regional groundwater pumping or production. The program conducts annual assessments to identify high-priority wells in need (GWAP Annual Needs Assessment) and offers both technical and financial assistance. Corrective actions may include lowering pumps, modifying well construction, or drilling new wells.

Policies & Eligibility

Policies and eligibility are outlined in the guidance document linked below, which explains who qualifies for assistance, how the program works, and what types of corrective actions may be available for wells impacted by declining groundwater levels. Well owners can use this guide to understand eligibility requirements and the process for requesting assistance.
